You know, until something happened to the country, the word Patriatisim was old, a notion that our parents and grandparnts tossed around. It was sorta alien to this generation. Sure, you blow off m-80's and Roman candles on July Fouth, and you figure that's as patriotic as you're going to get that year, save maybe voting, or taking vetrans day off.

I don't think we knew or appriciated what it took to be an American until 9-11. And fuck if anyone is going to question my love of this country because I didn't spout off shit like God Bless America every other day. The people that used to do that were labled as militia members and ethnocentric close-minded rednecks.

Try telling me that wasn't true for the most part.

I have shown my patroitism when the need has arose. I did not shout it out within every post, but I have always defended equality and the freedoms of the Constitution. At one of the places that I work there are people who are wearing the red, white and blue ribbons and flag pins. Many of them were talking on 9/12 of imediately jumping ship for Canada or mutilating their children to keep them out of the draft in case it comes back. If push comes to shove here, these people will run and trample anyone who gets in their way. They are hipocrites.
My step father was in the military for around a decade. Part of that time was served as a Navy Seal. He is pissed at the "flag wavers" because he knows that if they were called to fight, most would race to Mexico or Canada.
I wear a flag, and if needed I would die to protect this country, or kill for it.
Some people are following the bandwagon of patriotism, but some have actually realized what it is to be an American.
I think that Dark Lord is one of the genuine patriots.

I'm not a Patriot. I don't wave, wear, or present the American Flag in any way shape or form. I would not die for this country. I would not kill for this country. You'd be hard pressed to get me to do anything other than piss on the grass of this country. Why? Because it's neither my country or yours. It belongs to those who run it, those who sit behind desks discussing political jargon and the next best way to get a bill passed so their pockets can be even more deeply lined.
But if the need ever arose, I would die for the people who live within the boundries of this country. I would kill for those who have experienced hardships and the wonderful joys of life as I have. But I would never die for a country that is run by political monsters who care nothing for the people whom create their country.
So am I a Patriot? Hell no. I'm a Human Being. I do what I feel is right, not what anyone else feels is right.

Militias, if you ever seen the movie the Patriot, was one of the main groups that fought to build this nation back in the 1770's. We had a very small army, so militia was almost a nessisty. Now granted, that's a long time ago, but those people in the militia back then were the true patriots. Though the concept of Militia has changed over the course of 200+ years, those that form militias THINK that they are still patriotic.
